Call Upon the Lord

What do you do when you are facing an attack from the enemy? We should call out to God, our Father and Protector.

I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
2 Samuel 22:4 (ESV)

This is a repeat of Psalm 18:3 when David was delivered from his enemies and the hand of Saul. But it fits perfectly with my recent experience.

I know first hand how the devil is constantly plotting against us. Whenever I start to feel the true power of the Holy Spirit, the devil does whatever he can to plant seeds of doubt in my mind. I recently experience a very severe attack. It was so bad I was ready to end it all. I begged God to help me and he did, immediately after I called out to Him.

I was actually attacked twice. After the devil’s first attack, which was physical, I got over it. That second attack was purely spirtitual and was devastating. It came out of nowhere. Nothing had happened that would have caused me start feeling what I was feeling or would have caused the doubts that rushed through my mind. But at my lowest, I had faith in God. I knew He would help me so I called out to Him. He placed someone in my path and told me to go to her, so I did.

Those thoughts no longer had the sting they had before and, eventually, stopped altogether. The only thing the devil accomplished was to affirm my faith in God.

When you are feeling depressed, confused, or unsure, call upon the Lord. When you are feeling upbeat, focused, and full of joy, praise Him!
