The Church is not the Building

The Church is Not the Building

So many people are upset because they can’t physically be in a church due to the social distancing we must do right now. I understand that they miss the fellowship. Sometimes, physically being there really matters. However, I hope that people remember that the Church is not the building. It’s the body of Christ. We may not be able to go to a building, but, we can still worship together in other ways.

My church has online services. Many people have reached out with phone calls, texts, and emails. We’ve even gotten letters. We can still worship and honor Jesus without being in a building. Easter isn’t ruined because we can’t go to the building. Today is the day to celebrate his resurrection, not worry about traditions.

His Resurrection

Jesus rose! We are set free. He now sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us. We now have a path to salvation. This is the main focus for today. Not that we can’t get into the building.

2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
1 John 2:1 (NIV)

I Understand

This isn’t written to insult or negate anyone’s feelings on this matter. I understand that people need physical interaction. I just don’t want it to overshadow the day. Jesus rose from the grave and we are now able to live with the Holy Spirit. We can now have a direct relationship with God.

7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
John 16:7 (NIV)

Build Those Relationships

We will be back together one day and what a wonderful day it will be. In the meantime, reach out online, over the phone or through a letter. Continue to build that relationship with God. WE are the body of Christ!

Happy resurrection day!
