When You Are Weary

When You Are Weary, God wants to give you strength.

When You Are Weary

I am a single mom. Sometimes, the weight of everything that I take on seems to be too much. A lot of it is self-inflicted as I often sign up to do things or I agree to do things before I think about how I’m going to fit them in with everything else. Between my child, work, and studying, plus the extra things that I do, life gets exhausting. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. What do you do when you are weary?

God has been working on me a lot lately and this is one of the areas where He has been focusing. Pride causes me to try and fix everything myself. However, I have overworked myself to the point of physical exhaustion. I’ve had to take time off from work just to rest. It’s a problem I brought onto myself, but God is full of grace and has been helping me through it. When I feel the stress of everyday life coming over me, I know that I can call out to Him and He will give me strength.

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 (NIV)

The devil Prowls About

Not just physical strength. Me being so busy allows evil to try and take hold. It creeps in telling me, “it’s okay to not read the Bible this morning. You can do it tomorrow.” “It’s okay to not pray tonight, you’re too tired. You can do it tomorrow.”

It is definitely not okay. The devil is constantly on the lookout for people who are emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained. When you are weary, God is there for you. Call out to Him. Do not allow evil to take any type of hold. These may seem like small things, but small things can and will lead to bigger problems.

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:6-8 (NIV)

God Made a Promise

As tired as I can be, I ensure that every morning I read at least some Bible verses. I would rather some of the words of God with Me than none at all. Throughout the day, I say simple prayers and offer praise even for the small things. I know that God has made a promise to me that He will give me rest. I offer him my gratitude for that rest and that peace.

When frustrations come, take a minute to stop and focus solely on God. If you can’t physically leave where you are, you can still give yourself a break by just being quiet. Talk to Him and He will give you peace. Give Him your problems. When you are weary, God will give you rest.

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11: 28-30 (NIV)

Humble Yourself

God wants to take your burdens away from you. He may not physically remove everything that you’ve brought into your life, but He can and will give you the strength to get through it. He can give you the wisdom to overcome it. When you are weary, humble yourself and call out to God. Don’t go through this alone.

Have a blessed and prosperous week!
